About Mariana
From Uruguay, where she grew up, to the San Juan Islands, where she now resides, and everywhere in between, Mariana loves connecting with people, and nature, sharing the simple joys and wonders of life.
Mariana is a dynamic yoga teacher with a background in gymnastics, dance, and cheerleading. Yoga has been a big part of her life since her university years, and she now continues to seek the practice that empowers and fulfills her daily.
Mariana’s own practices and teachings focus on the 8 Limbs of Yoga. Starting with the way you treat others and yourself, moving through asanas (physical postures) and pranayama (breathwork) to free the mind and the senses, find concentration and stillness, so that one can access their inner peace and bliss. She aims to facilitate this experience for her students in every class and encourages them to move beyond the confinements of the material world.
She received her first Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in Thailand in 2019 and years later obtained additional training to be able to teach breath work under the guidance of the same instructor. Mariana traveled to India in 2023 to complete her second YTT and embark on her 2-year journey towards completing her Yoga Therapy Certification. She strongly believes in the transformational and healing power of yoga and hopes to share with her students the principles of positivity, acceptance, love, and compassion the practice brings her.
Mariana, with the help of her friends, started Flow Collective in 2022, a donation-based community yoga space that she manages and teaches at, in hopes of providing accessible yoga to her community. She has been teaching on the islands since 2019, leading group classes, catering to private clients and participating in special events. She has also worked and ran retreats in Sri Lanka for the past two years.
Mariana is an introverted extrovert who is happiest by, in, or on the water, surrounded by loved ones, living simply and sustainably. In her free time, you can find her sailing, swimming in the kelp, sitting on the beach, exploring different countries, hiking with her dog, drinking tea, or well, doing yoga.
